Florida rugby has given us the go ahead to assemble a select side to play games this season. Posted on 2/20/2013 11:29:57 PM		To All Florida rugby club Presidents , Florida rugby has given us the go ahead to assemble a select side to play games this season. The coaching staff consists of: - Head Coach : Frank Tito for South and State - Backs Coach : Daniel Batt for South and State - Forwards coach : Sean Simon for South and State - assistant to Ricky Brown - Forwards coach - Ricky Brown for North and State Our first outing is the May Clash Of The Codes. We are working on a match vs a visiting South American touring team and a short tour to play a Georgia Select side. In order to select the best team possible we would like invite you to send us a list of potential trialists - the plan is have separate North and South trials The North players to meet in Jacksonville with Ricky Brown conducting the testing , evaluation and selection of the North team. Frank Tito will be in charge of the South team in Boca Raton The sessions will be held on the first weekend of April from 10.00 am until 4.00pm during which we will test and evaluate the following: 1/. Fitness 2/. Passing skills 3/. Tackling 4/. Kicking 5/. .Basic skills for the individual positions 6/. Agility 7/. Power & strength test 8/. Rugby beep test, will be gauged on age 9/. Tactical awareness 10/. Quick responsiveness to tactical attacking and defending 11/. Self attack zones 12/. Self defense zones 13/. Technique , skill and knowledge level After the testing and evaluation we will select a possible vs probable team to play a trial game on the same day Once the North team and South teams have been selected we will schedule a session to test and evaluate those chosen and hold a second trial game to select our final squad - the venue and date to be determined - it will be in Orlando - grounds to be announced when confirmed We are very serious about putting a strong Florida Select side together and can only do so with your help and participation Kindly send in your recommendations at your earliest possible convenience - (5) 3 forwards and two backs.
